City Centre

Open: 10am–4pm both Saturday and Sunday.

Here you can find creatives running businesses from jewellery, ceramics, book binding, fashion, illustration and more, as well as event organiser Amy Stringer's jewellery and ceramic studio.

Access: ground floor entry via 5 steps that turn, the bindery itself is on the first floor up two flights of stairs via a narrow doorway; not step-free.

Drop in for Kurinuki carving and bookbinding workshops, or explore the wider studio.

East Street Arts, Patrick Studios & Convention House

Patrick Studios / Convention House, St Mary's Lane, Leeds, LS9 7EH

Open: 10am–4pm both Saturday and Sunday.

An arts charity dedicated to providing essential workspace, resources, professional support and opportunities for artists and artists' spaces, enabling them to develop resilient and sustainable practices and connect with local communities, audiences, and peers across the UK and beyond.

Access: lift access to most areas, including activity spaces, with accessible toilets on site. Friendly dogs are welcome (individual studios may differ), family friendly.

Look out for the Riso Convention, Salon exhibition and open studios across every floor.

Leeds Print Workshop

Based in the Basement of Patrick Studios, Leeds.

Open: Saturday and Sunday, 10:30am–4:30pm.

A cooperative printmaking studio. Drop in to have a look at the printmaking facilities, chat to the tutors and technicians, and even have a go at some printmaking techniques yourself. Everyone is welcome, no experience needed, a great opportunity to find out about memberships and the range of public courses on offer.

Access: fully accessible, within Patrick Studios.

Nests

2 Regent Street, Leeds, LS2 7QA

Open: Saturday and Sunday, 11am–6pm.

A grassroots, DIY arts space prioritising creativity and community, offering studios and shared space for the wider artistic community.

Access: wheelchair accessible via a ramp (ring the bell to request), everything on one level once inside, with an accessible portaloo.

Look out for Murmuration, a new group exhibition opening Friday 11 September (6pm–11pm) and running across the weekend.

Mabgate Art Studios

University Centre Leeds, Gate 1, Mabgate Campus, Leeds, LS9 7DZ

Open: Saturday and Sunday, 10:30am–4:30pm.

Home to University Centre Leeds' School of Creative Arts, including the RE Workshop, a fully equipped space with screen printing facilities alongside joinery and upcycling projects.

Look out for a series of hands-on workshops and an exhibition of staff and student work across the weekend.

Open Day: Saturday 12 September only, 10am–4pm.

A long-established education and community centre in Leeds, home to a range of creative and community activities.

Access: located across several joined Georgian houses, so floors are a little uneven with steps and stairs throughout. There's a lift between the basement and ground floor, but no lift to the first floor, so not all areas are accessible. Worth visiting in advance if you have specific access needs.

Open Day taster sessions in jewellery and pottery, plus mosaic making and Chinese paper craft.

The Attic

Open: Saturday 12 September only.

A community-focused creative space and venue in Leeds, with artist studios.

Drop in for free keyring making with Sew Sweet Pea, or browse a pop-up sale from Lucky Pea.

Access: ground floor access, family friendly.

Farsley

Home to 49 artists' and makers' studios across the Twisting, Spinning Mill and Red Lane Mill buildings, alongside a gallery, textile and local history archive, shops and cafés.

Access: lift access to most areas, including activity spaces, with accessible toilets on site. Friendly dogs are welcome (individual studios may differ), family friendly.

Look out for new Pop-up Studios, the Clocking In trail, and The Rolling Year exhibition.

10 The Twisting

Open: Saturday 10-3pm Sunday 10-2pm

Emma: I’ve worked in the jewellery trade for over 20 years. I’ve always loved jewellery, wearing it, making it, buying it and selling it.   But I have a particular soft spot for handmade, unusual pieces that have been thoughtfully designed and made.

A converted Victorian textile mill beside the Leeds–Liverpool Canal, home to around 80 resident creatives working across painting, sculpture, performance and more.

Access: via stairways. Friendly dogs are welcome (individual studios may differ).

Look out for Places Pulled, a new exhibition by Zoe Maxwell running across the weekend.
